The Maiden

Posted by Craig on 3 August 2009, 10:20 pm

“Early on in the race the prospect of climbing the Maiden is like a far off dentist appointment to have your wisdom teeth pulled: unpleasant, yes, but too far away to really worry about, but now I was sitting in the waiting room reading an old copy of Newsweek waiting for my name to be …

Those Damn Females

Posted by Craig on 20 July 2009, 7:19 pm

Posted by whitetrash on 15 July 2009, 1:08 pm

Guest Post by Alan Abbs The White Trash Diaries, Vol 2 My Western States 2009 race report begins back in time — all the way back in December 2007. I make it through the selection process and get in, and I’m determined to get down toward that 20-hour mark, having done 3 straight sub 22-hour …

The longest mile and then some

Posted by Craig on 10 July 2009, 12:56 am

So yeah, it was disconcerting when it took Dan Olmstead nearly as long to go less than four miles. This was not quite two weeks ago, during the Western States Endurance Run. He almost finished the 100-mile …

This is Craig Thornley's ultrarunning blog. It’s a blend of humor, opinion, insight, history, adventure, and sometimes just plain ridiculousness from the perspective of an ultrarunner and race director. You'll find lots of info about Western States 100 so look around. Hopefully the blog will provide some useful information, conduct your juices, or make you laugh.
